Ten companies are recalling about 501,000 hoverboards after numerous reports of the self-balancing scooters' batteries catching fire, the US Consumer Products Safety Commission said on Wednesday.
The demand for smart balance scooters, or hoverboards, in Qatar has remained high despite a ban by a number of malls in the country.
Smart balance wheels, also called hoverboards, continue to be sold in many hypermarkets and shops across Doha despite Qatar authorities having reportedly issued a directive, banning the sale of such items.
