Pope Francis on Tuesday made a surprise visit to Amatrice, the small Italian mountain town that bore the brunt of the August 24 earthquake that killed nearly 300 people.
Dozens of coffins were laid out in a marquee on Tuesday ahead of a state funeral for some of the victims of an earthquake which levelled communities in central Italy last week, killing at least 292 people.
Italy on Friday declared a day of mourning for victims of a devastating earthquake as hopes of finding any more survivors dwindled and the confirmed death toll rose to 267.
