Qatar’s embassies in several countries hosted receptions to celebrate the country’s National Day.
In Houston, Texas, Faisal bin Abdullah al-Henzab, Qatar’s Consul General, hosted a reception party which was attended by representatives of the government of Texas and the heads of missions of Arab and foreign diplomatic corps in Houston in addition to a large number of dignitaries, doctors and managers of energy companies and businessmen.
A large group of heads and representatives of universities in addition to a group of Qatari nationals and Arab residents in the city also attended the event.
In Ottawa Qatar’s Ambassador to Canada Salem Mubarak al-Shafi held a reception at the Hilton Hotel to celebrate Qatar’s National Day.
Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs John Baird and Deputy Prime Minister Sheila Copps in addition to a number of members of the Canadian Senate attended the event.
It was also attended by a number of ambassadors and diplomats accredited to Canada, and prominent political, social and media figures.
The celebration included presenting a cinematic clip that reflected the economic, architectural and cultural progress that Qatar is witnessing.
In Islamabad Qatar’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Sayar Abdul Rahman al-Mawdah, hosted a reception yesterday to celebrate Qatar’s National Day.
The event was attended by Pakistani Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, a number of ministers, members of Pakistan’s National Assembly and Senate, some senior Pakistani figures including the President of Jammu & Kashmir Sardar Yaqub, Minister of petroleum and Natural Resources Asim Hussain, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed and Pakistan’s Muslim League Chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
Senior armed forces’ officials, dignitaries, and Arab and Foreign diplomats accredited to Pakistan attended the reception as well, along with a large number of businessmen, media personnel.
In Vienna Qatar’s Ambassador to Austria Mohamed Ali al-Maliki hosted a reception which was attended by director of the Middle East Department at the Austrian Foreign Ministry Dr Friedrich Stift, director of the Protocol Department and other representatives of the Austrian government.
In Bishkek, Charge d’Affaires at the embassy of Qatar to Kyrgyzstan Ali Jabir al-Shawi al-Marri has hosted a reception on the occasion of Qatar National Day.
