Vodafone contest winner bags QR10,000, iPhone 5

Vodafone Qatar has announced the winner of its National Day ‘Keep our past alive’ online competition. Mohamed Ali was picked the winner from more than 400 entries.

The competition, launched on December 12 with the aim of keeping Qatari heritage alive, was open for everyone living in Qatar and all what the participants had to do was to share photographs representing Qatari heritage. The photographs were then displayed in an online gallery on Vodafone’s Facebook page for public voting.

The winning photograph represented an image of pearl diving, one of the oldest professions in the Qatari heritage. Mohamed Ali won a QR10,000 cash prize and a new iPhone 5 with a Vodafone Star Number.

In addition to the grand prize winner, Vodafone also gave a chance for the 17,363 people who voted in the competition to win. All those that voted for the winning photograph had their name entered into a draw to win an iPhone 5 as well.

“I’d like to congratulate Mohamed Ali for winning the competition. His photo is a great representation of the Qatari heritage. We are very proud of the number of entries that we received and we will turn the competition page on our Facebook into an online gallery for everyone to enjoy,” said Mohamed al-Yami, external affairs director, Vodafone Qatar.
