The Sidra Medical and Research Center, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, aims to outfit the Sidra building by the fourth quarter of 2013. Sidra is also currently recruiting physicians and some 500 pre-commissioning staff. Quoting reliable sources, local daily Al-Watan said yesterday that the number of jobs will increase to 5,000 gradually.
The exact date of opening will be announced soon. Sidra is an ultra-modern, all-digital academic medical centre designed and planned to the best international standards. It will offer specialty care for women and children. Part of a collaborative effort entitled “one programme in multiple institutions,” Sidra will work closely with Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar and Hamad Medical Corporation to raise the standard of healthcare throughout the country and provide valuable opportunities for research and learning.It will have a 400-bed state-of-the-art hospital, the report added.
