W Doha Hotel and Residences celebrated National Sport Day yesterday in signature-style as the entire country came together to take part in various sporting activities.
W Doha was an official partner of Qatar’s first Dolphin Energy Doha Dash. The event comprised 1km, 3km and 5km fun runs as well as a 1km ladies walk that took place at the Losail Circuit.
In one of the highlights of the programme, more than 50 members of the W Doha team joined in a run alongside visiting British Olympic silver medallist Samantha
Murray.
Samantha, a modern pentathlete, was invited to Doha by Dolphin Energy Doha Dash and W Doha. During her five-day visit, she stayed as a guest of W Doha and spent an evening mingling with guests and members of the W Doha team answering questions about her sport and the 2012 Olympics.
Guests were also invited to step outside the hotel and absorb the energy of the city, with complimentary shuttles to the Corniche, where various sports activities were taking place.
Safak Guvenc, general manager, W Doha Hotel and Residences, said: “We were honoured to participate in this national celebration and would continue to do our bit to promote sports, physical education and sustainable development to further enhance the Qatar National Vision 2030. This year’s National Sport Day demonstrated the solidarity and strength of our country and the people who inhabit it.”
