Qatar and Saudi Arabia yesterday signed the minutes of the joint meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the fourth session of the Qatari-Saudi Joint Co-ordination Council.
The minutes were signed by HE the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah and Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Nizar bin Obaid Madani.
The signing ceremony was attended by Qatar’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ali bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud and Saudi Ambassador to Qatar Ahmed bin Ali al-Qahtani and a number of officials from both sides.
Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah said in a statement to reporters after the signing that the meeting of the preparatory committee for the fourth session of the Qatari-Saudi Joint Co-ordination Council discussed all matters and topics of interest to the two countries in all fields of co-operation including political consultation, economy and investment, infrastructure, and education.
He said: “We have a unit of measurement for each preparatory meeting of the Committee, and we always find that the relationship is progressing from one stage to another.” He stressed that the meetings were very positive.
He explained that the co-operation (and the signing of agreements) between Qatar and Saudi Arabia is an ongoing process, pointing out that the joint committee supervises the implementation of what is agreed upon.
Responding to a question by Qatar News Agency (QNA)  Dr al-Attiyah described the  Qatari-Saudi relations as distinct and special, adding:  “We always follow up the implementation of what we agree on in order to keep this relationship at the height of excellence”.
Meanwhile, Dr Nizar bin Obaid Madani said the Committee’s meetings were fruitful and positive.
He said that the minutes of the preparatory committee covers all the different areas of co-operation between the two countries - political, economic , trade or investment and the like.
Dr Madani noted that the meetings were held in a spirit of brotherhood, understanding and affection.
Dr Madani said co-operation between Saudi Arabia and Qatar and understanding between them will continue to increase and become stronger in the future.
