UAE Minister of State Reem Ibrahim al-Hashemi has paid tribute to Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development during a tour of its Visitors Centre yesterday. Speaking after viewing a presentation on the vision and mission of Qatar Foundation, al-Hashemi said: “The achievements of Qatar Foundation are excellent and we are proud and honoured to be here today.”
During the presentation, the minister was introduced to the many educational initiatives, community development plans and scientific research programmes being undertaken by Qatar Foundation including Sidra Medical and Research Center, the cutting-edge academic medical facility, and the Qatar National Research Fund, which awards grants to local and international research projects.
In acknowledging Qatar Foundation’s mission to unlock human potential and drive the country’s transition from a carbon-based economy to a knowledge economy, al-Hashemi said that education is the most important element in the success and prosperity of any society.
“The universities Qatar Foundation attracted are the finest in the world, and this is evidence of the foundation’s focus on the education factor, ” the official noted.
She later viewed the impressive 3D model of the current buildings and future construction projects at Qatar Foundation and signed the visitors’ book.
