QDB supports Qatari firms at Plast Expo

Qatar Development Bank (QDB)’s export development agency, Tasdeer, has promoted Qatari non-oil export companies by supporting 12 local exporters to showcase their unique products and services at North Africa’s largest plastic products fair,
Morocco Plast Expo 2013.
This year’s edition of Plast Expo, which started on Wednesday, was held at the International Fair Grounds in Casablanca. It concluded yesterday.
Qatar hosted potential trade visitors and international importers at its exclusive pavilion spanning 144sqm. Participating companies included Al Khaleej Plastics, Al Bayader Pack Qatar, Haya Plastics, Asima Plastics, Doha Plastics, Gulf Plastic Factory, Hepworth PME Qatar, Qatar German Medical Devices, Qatar Polymer Industrial Company, Orient Plastic Containers Factory, Uniplast and Universal Wrapping Manufacturing.
High-profile trade visitors from Algeria, Egypt, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal and Tunisia attended the event to discuss business, leading to significant prospects for each of the participating Qatari companies.
Mansour bin Ibrahim al-Mahmoud, CEO of QDB, said: “We doubled our efforts this year to see our products, services, advisory and support extended to Qatar’s private sector players, especially non-oil exporters, owing to their role in casting light on the country’s exporting potential, world-class quality standards and global best practices.”
Hassan Khalifa al-Mansoori, executive director of Tasdeer, said: “We have had tremendous success, with hundreds of business visitors flocking to our pavilion to meet our Qatari exporters and discuss synergies and opportunities for the future. We have had a very busy year so far and efforts are still in the works to gain further ground for Qatari exporters to thrive on.”
Plast Expo is a bi-annual event positioned as the Euro-Mediterranean gateway to Africa. Earlier in 2013, Tasdeer conducted a market study governing Morocco and pinpointing lucrative expansion opportunities for Qatar’s exporters.
