The Diplomatic Club yesterday hosted and sponsored an event for children from Sunbeam Centre for Excellence for Children with Special Needs. It featured games and activities and also gave teachers and parents the opportunity to discuss the children’s needs, progress and potential.
The event, titled Sunbeam School Fete, was organised by Stenden University students and was part of their Bachelor studies in International Hospitality and Business Management. It was staged along with Let’s Unite, a non-profit organisation affiliated to the university.
Sunbeam School Fete included educational games, entertainment competitions and an awards ceremony to acknowledge the students, teachers and sponsors.
According to Ahmed al-Abdulla, CEO of Let’s Unite, the event was held “not only to entertain the students of Sunbeam centre, but also to acknowledge the school for its hard work in enlightening those students’ lives with education. It has also generated a donation for the school to help it grow and innovate in helping its students achieve their dreams and goals”.
“The Diplomatic Club is proud to be part of this event, helping such lovely and amazing kids be happy, while providing a platform for faculty, staff and parents to engage,” said Soha Moussa, director of marketing at the Diplomatic Club.
“We highly value the efforts undertaken by the Stenden University students. This event clearly indicates that the youth in Qatar are involved in the organisation of volunteer and charitable events and recognise the importance of being a good social citizen.”
She added: “We hope that the event has brought joy to the hearts of these kids and show them how much we care for them.”
