Last month, 32-year-old Rizq left Doha giants Al Sadd and signed a two-year deal with El Jaish who finished in third place last season.“It is a challenge playing for El Jaish. That’s how I look at it,” Rizq said in an interview. “I know have the experience that could be vital for my new team which is very ambitious,” he added. “When the offer came for me to join them, I did not hesitate for a single minute. I like challenges and I am ready for the new season,”Rizq said.
“I hope I can contribute in a major way as El Jaish chase big trophies in Qatar and in Asia,” the ace midfielder and former Qatar national team captain added. The tall midfielder played for Al Sadd for nine seasons, appearing in 104 matches.Rizq won numerous titles with Al Sadd including the 2011 AFC ChampionsLeague title in November of that year. He was also a member of the QSL-winning Al Sadd side last season and also captained the Qatar national side.
