Aspetar set to renew its ISO certification

Aspetar has implemented an ‘Environmental Management System’ (EMS) which has qualified the hospital for renewal of its ISO 14001:2004 certification until September 2016, SGS auditors have confirmed. SGS is the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company. They are recognised as the global benchmark for quality and integrity.
Implementing an EMS based on ISO 14001:2004 has numerous benefits for Aspetar, including improvements in overall environmental performance. It provides a framework for using pollution prevention practices to meet EMS objectives, increases efficiency, and delivers potential cost savings when managing environmental obligations.
Aspetar has successfully implemented the EMS using organisational resources to create awareness such as employee training sessions. They have significantly reduced the consumption of paper, waste, water and electric power throughout hospital grounds as a means to improve their overall environmental performance.
Aspetar Chief Executive Officer Dr Khalifa al- Kuwari said: “The ISO 14001:2004 renewal is a tremendous honour for us. Although Aspetar is a low risk organisation, this does not prevent us from striving to minimise the impact that we impose on our environment.”
Originally granted in 2010, this is the first renewal process that Aspetar has successfully completed.
Aspetar is committed to the conservation of natural resources, including the careful use of energy and water, as well as active participation in activities that are geared towards conserving the environment.
