Qatar Exchange index gained 229.17 points (2.39%) when it closed the month of October at 9,837.49 points from 18 trading days compared to 9608.32 points registered in September 2013 from 22 days of trading.
The trading value of QR 4,727,319,078.32 registered in October2 013 is a decrease by 31.83% compared to QR 6,934,182,913.30 noted in September.
The volume of shares of 111,031,344 is a decrease by 32.99% compared to 165,683,747 shares while the 52,632 transactions is a drop by 36.79% compared to 83,263 in September.
The value of trading in Banks and financial services sector was 27.7% of the total traded value. Industries accounted for 24.47%, real estate accounted for 17.33%, consumer goods and services accounted for 16.13%, insurance accounted for 6.05%, transport accounted for 5.43% and telecoms sector accounted for 2.89% of trading.
The market capitalisation of QR 533,105,651,290.71 in October is an increase by 1.73% compared to QR524,052,892,915.29 at the end of September.
Industries Qatar topped the traded value of shares with QR646,158,877.60, or 13.67% of the total value of traded shares in October. Its shares were up to QR159.50 from QR 149.90 at the end of September.
United Development Company came next with QR421,189,222.43 (8.91%). Medicare Group registered QR394,594,030.30 (8.35%), Qatar National Bank accounted QR365,728,735.20 (7.74%) and Barwa Real Estate traded for QR357,739,083.45 (7.57%).
Real estate led the traded volume in October with 32.39% of the total traded volume of 111,031,344 shares. Banks and financial services accounted for 21.95%. Consumer goods and services accounted for 15.90%. Industries accounted for 14.61%. Transportation accounted for 7.29%. Insurance accounted for 4.64% and telecoms accounted for 3.23%.
From the 42 listed companies 25 ended the month of October higher while 17 dropped.
The QE index peaked to 9,837.49 points on the last day of the month with a traded value of QR381,346,846.56 and a traded volume of 8,034,980 shares from 5,388 transactions.
The QE index started the month sluggishly, registering its lowest on October 1, at 9,628.30 points with a traded value of QR 164,167,526.45 and a traded volume of 3,819,359 shares from 2,265 transactions.
