Organisers of the 8th LPG Trade Summit addressing a press conference in Doha yesterday.
The current state of the LPG industry will be on the spotlight at the three-day LPG Trade Summit to be held in Doha from November 18 and hosted by Qatar International Petroleum Marketing Company (Tasweeq).
Held in Qatar for a second time, the 8th edition of the event will focus on “balancing global LPG trade and shipping market dynamics amidst capacity changes”. The event will be held under the patronage of HE the Minister of Energy and Industry, Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada.
The summit, which is being organised by the Centre for Management Technology (CMT), will discuss an array of topics to highlight the growth of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) across the globe and the developmental challenges faced in the pursuit to encourage LPG consumption worldwide.
Saad al-Kuwari, Tasweeq chief executive officer said, “As the official host of the 8th LPG Trade Summit, Tasweeq confirms its commitment to the global LPG industry. In our leadership position, we are keen to contribute to the industry’s growth and development. At the summit, participants will meet and interact with top level delegates from across the world, including LPG producers, petrochemical producers, end-users, global trading companies and marketers, international and national oil companies, as well as charterers, shipping companies and industry experts in the global LPG trade sector.”
Al-Sada will deliver the opening address of the summit at the St Regis Hotel on November 18 in the presence of dignitaries from the energy industry. This will be followed by a plenary keynote session presented by al-Kuwari; Ian Taylor, president and CEO of the Vitol Group, and Michael F Conway, president, Shell Trading.
Abdulrahman Abdulla al-Obaidly, public relations and communications manager (Qatar Petroleum) said, “QP is glad to support the summit as the platinum sponsor, thus highlighting the importance of LPG to Qatar’s marketing and export volumes. HE Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada is very keen in further expanding Qatar’s energy portfolio and in finding new markets worldwide through the hosting of such international events, where current energy trends, challenges and solutions are discussed at length”.
The summit expects a turnout of at least 300 top-level participants from all over the world.

The summit will offer interesting sessions and discussions including “World Macroeconomic & Energy Outlook 2013” by Kristine Petrosyan, senior energy analyst of the International Energy Agency (IEA).
