The third edition of the GCC Camel Racing Championship began at Al Shahaniyya race track yesterday under the patronage of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. Qatar came top of the standings after the first day with four gold, four silver and five bronze medals. Oman won the second place with a total of eight medals; three gold, three sliver and two bronze medals. Kuwait came third with a total of four medals split between gold and silver. HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani and Prince Turki bin Mohamed Fahad al-Saud handed out the trophies to winners. Camel Racing Organising Committee chairman HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Faisal al-Thani awarded medals to winners.
