Malacanang yesterday assured that the government is ready to assist Filipino workers in Thailand if the violence in the Bangkok escalates.
In a radio interview, Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr said there are guidelines in place for the Philippine embassy in Bangkok and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). Coloma said the embassy officials follow the guidelines in declaring alert levels in their jurisdictions.
Reports said t two people have been killed and 45 others were wounded after anti-government protesters clashed with supporters of Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, the first bloodshed in a week of demonstrations.
