HMC’s six entries shortlisted for Arab health awards

Six nominations from Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) have been shortlisted in four categories for the upcoming Arab Health Innovation and Achievement Awards 2014.

The awards, which will take place at the Dubai Exhibition Centre on January 28, aim to recognise individuals or organisations that have contributed to the growth and development of the healthcare industry in the Middle East.

HMC has been shortlisted in the categories of Excellence in Radiology, Excellence in Surgery Services, Excellence in Patient Centered Care for the Cancer Transformation Programme and three HMC doctors have been shortlisted for the Cleveland Clinic Young Physician of the Year Award - Hamad General Hospital (HGH) Intensive Care medical director Dr Ibrahim M Fawzy Hassan; HGH Internal Medicine and Rheumatology specialist Dr Magdi Hassan Osman; and HGH Paediatric Surgery specialist Dr Tariq O Abbasi.

HMC managing director Hanan al-Kuwari said she was pleased with the recognition and saw it as a success, not just for the organisation, but for Qatar.

“At HMC, we strive to achieve excellence in care for our patients. We are also working to the National Health Strategy for Qatar, the National Cancer Strategy for Qatar and the National Vision 2030, all of which support our ambition for patient-centred care. It is a great honour for our work to be recognised in this way by the Arab Health Awards committee and for these doctors and projects to be shortlisted out of all the submissions from across the region.”

“It is a testament to all the hard work that is happening at HMC and demonstrates our commitment to providing the safest, most effective and compassionate care to each and every one of our patients,” she added.

The Arab Health Innovation and Achievement Awards run alongside Arab Health, the largest congress and exhibition in the Middle East and the second largest in the world.
