Dan thanked the British embassy and Doha Bay Running Club for all the help and support they have given him.

The Run the World Challenge is an extraordinary challenge that has been created by Dan to promote the benefits of sports and physical activity all over the world and to raise money for cancer research following the recent death of his mother from cancer.

Dan has already completed 11 runs in Norway, Germany, Ireland, Greece, Poland, Slovakia, Malta, Kuwait City, Bahrain, the UAE  and Oman.  His next trip is to Southern Africa in March where he will do eight runs in eight different countries in eight days.

British Ambassador Nicholas Hopton said, “I am delighted to have been able to take part in Dan Thompson’s 10km race along the Corniche. He was raising awareness about the importance of sports’ role in staying healthy and at the same time raising money for research into curing cancer. This is an important issue that affects the health of people in Qatar as well as the UK, and we wish Dan all the best for the 192 races that he has left!”

The Run The World Challenge follows on from Dan’s 2012 Olympic Challenge, which saw him undertake every Olympic and Paralympic event – 114 events in total, including showjumping, the 10m high dive, whitewater canoeing, 10km open water swim, 150km road cycle, 50km walk, the marathon and the pole vault.
