An American fugitive wanted for rape charges in his homeland, was arrested by the combined police and immigration agents in his hideout, in a remote village in La Union province, police reports said yesterday.
Initial reports reaching the Philippine National Police National Operations Centre in Camp Crame identified the arrested American fugitive as Philip Vaughn Cox, 53, who is wanted in the US for two crimes of first degree or rape of a minor.
Elements of the Bauang Municipal Police Station and Fugitive Search Unit and Intelligence Division of the Bureau of Immigration arrested Cox at about 11pm in a resort at Barangay Pagdalagan Sur, Bauang town.
Cox was then turned-over to the custody of BI for appropriate action.
