Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) has hosted Blaise Compaore, President of Burkina Faso, as part of his state visit to Qatar.

Jassim Telefat, Group executive director of Qatar Foundation Capital Projects and Facilities Management, received the president and his delegation at the QF Visitor Centre.

During the visit, Compaore listened to a presentation outlining the vision and mission of QF. He was also introduced to its many initiatives, community development plans, scientific research programmes and sustainability and environmental conservation solutions.

After the presentation, the president and his delegation were shown a 3D scale model of the current educational and research buildings in addition to future construction projects at QF.

President Compaore described his visit as a pleasant occasion, enabling him to observe QF’s efforts and contributions in unlocking human potential both locally and globally. He stressed that the Foundation’s efforts play an important role in harnessing peace for the benefit of mankind.

“Education and knowledge are the key drivers of development in the world,” he said. “We must strive to share this knowledge in the interest of mankind. Co-operation between nations will make the world a better place and we strive to be a part of this mutual exchange of knowledge. We look forward to collaborating with Qatar Foundation and are already active in various arenas, especially in relation to education and community development.”

At the end of the visit, Compaore signed the QF visitors’ book and was presented with an honorary gift.

The president arrived in Qatar on a one-day state visit aimed at enhancing bilateral relations. Qatar and Burkina Faso have an active relationship, especially in terms of humanitarian efforts, with Qatar Charity having successfully executed numerous projects in the West African state.

These initiatives have been focused on supporting development programmes by providing citizens with basic necessities in co-operation with the local authorities, particularly with regard to water sanitation and income-generating ventures.
