Man arrested for swindling landlords
A man has been accused of swindling people of around QR60mn, local Arabic daily Al Sharq has reported. In the last detected case, the fraudster reportedly took QR6mn after renting a compound from its owner and offering the housing units there to other lessees. He did not pay any rent to the compound owner for one and a half years and issued dud cheques, the report said. After several attempts to recover the rent amount, the compound owner filed a lawsuit against the accused. A court then ordered evacuation of the compound, the report added. After giving him a time-frame for payment of the due amount, the court ordered the arrest of the accused who had allegedly committed similar crimes against other property owners.
