Katara–the Cultural Village has said in a statement that the fine arts society is responsible for the storage of paintings in the car parking lot, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported. |
According to the statement, a prompt investigation was carried out into the matter and that Katara was unaware of the contents of the items that the fine arts society had requested to be stored at the spot.
Further, the statement said the paintings were displayed at an exhibition organised during the previous term of the society, and that any items exhibited at Katara are the responsibility of the organising agency and not the Katara management, the report added.
Katara has also said that the society had stored its materials in a facility in the village and shifted some items through a private company, to be temporarily kept in a corner of the car parking lot.
The society did not mention in its verbal request that the items included paintings, the statement said, and it added that the society was responsible for keeping the paintings there for a long time.
Katara has confirmed that administrative steps have been taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.
It has also stressed that it supports all types of arts and encourages artists and cultural activities, the report added.
