HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for the Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud yesterday met with Mohamed bin Chambas, the joint special representative of the African Union and United Nations in Darfur, who is also the joint chief mediator for Darfur (UNAMID), and his accompanying delegation .
They discussed the latest developments in the Darfur peace process. Chambas briefed al-Mahmoud about the outcome of meetings held in Addis Ababa where all parties had welcomed the initiative proposed by Sudan President Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir for national dialogue .
Al-Mahmoud and Chambas called upon all non-signatory movements to join the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) and to participate in the national dialogue.
A number of officials at the General Secretariat of the Cabinet attended the meeting.
The Arab Ministerial Council last week praised Qatar’s efforts in establishing peace and stability in Sudan.
