The drill was attended by HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs Maj Gen Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah, HE the chief of staff of the armed forces Maj Gen Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim, French ambassador Jean-Christophe Peaucelle, the French military attache in Doha and a number of senior officers from the two sides.
The Tareq Bin Ziad Mechanised Battalion and France’s infantry company No 152 took part in the exercise which also witnessed live ammunition shooting.
A number of 2000 Mirage aircraft, helicopter gunships and artillery gunning also participated.
The drill aims at “enhancing ties of co-operation and exchange of military know-how with the friendly countries and boosting training on raising combat efficiency of the participant forces on quasi real exercises”, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) said.
