Alfardan Jewellery plans to open more boutiques in Doha

Alfardan Jewellery has set ambitious plans for the coming years to start boutiques at top upcoming business locations such as Doha Festival City, Lusail City, Mall of Qatar and Doha Mall, which are in different phases of construction at present.

Informing this yesterday, Alfardan Jewellery president and Alfardan Group of Companies vice-chairman Ali Alfardan said the market for premium jewels and high-end watches has been growing at a phenomenal pace in the country and this is why the group is considering opening more outlets at the high-end malls that are currently under construction.

“Other than the above locations, we are also planning to start a boutique at Kempinski Palace Hotel coming up at The Pearl-Qatar,” he said.

Alfardan Jewellery has 10 outlets across Doha at present.

 

22 food outlets closed in Rayyan

Ghanim al-Niaimi, chief of the food monitoring section in Al Rayyan Municipality, has said more than 950 inspection tours have been conducted at food establishments since the beginning of the year, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported. These visits have resulted in the closure of 22 food establishments for violation of norms, he said, adding that the total fines paid by the erring units amounted to QR420,000. The establishments included restaurants, cafeterias and bakeries and the purpose of the inspection was to ensure compliance with health and food safety requirements, the report states.

Al-Niaimi has stressed that the section has taken various steps to meet the challenges arising out of the increase in population as well as number of food establishments. These include providing training to Qatari inspectors through specialised courses so as to enhance the methods of inspection, according to the report.

 

Indian Cultural Centre holds cricket match

A cricket match, featuring the Indian Community XII and Ambassador’s XII, will be held at the Old Ideal Indian School Grounds tomorrow. The match is being organised by the Indian Cultural Centre. It is scheduled to begin at 1.30pm. The Ambassador’s XII will be led by ambassador Sanjiv Arora and the Community XII’s captain is Azeem Abbas.

 

Embassy holiday on March 17

The Indian embassy will remain closed on Monday (March 17) on the occasion of Holi, an Indian festival.
