The Embassy of Nepal in Qatar recently organised a traffic awareness and public health programme.
Khalid Ali, a CID captain of Qatar, Dr Surya Batazu, Dr Rubin, Dr Rafael, Dr Narendra Sakya, Dr Nitesh Aryal and Dr Hari Namarmi were some of the prominent people present on the occasion.
Medical health professionals including Dr Batazu, Dr Rubin and Dr Rafael form the Hamad Medical Corporation briefed the participants about road accident prevention measures.
They also briefed the attendants about the proper way to cross a road and how to drive a vehicle safely. The speakers emphasized on the need to follow traffic rules while on the road, saying it was absolutely mandatory to use a seat belt. Mobile phones, they said, should never be used while driving.
In his session, CID Captain Ali said people can come to his office for legal advice. He also went over the Qatar law, culture and customs during his session. His speech was translated by Abdul Hafiz, who is the president of Nepalese Muslim Society.
In the last session of the programme, Dr Sakya, Dr Aryal and Dr Nakarmi gave health advice to those in attendance. They described the ideal food for a worker in Qatar.
The informative programme was attended by about 400 people.
Acting Ambassador Ganesh Prasad Dhakal concluded the programme by thanking the presenters. He urged the Nepalese social organisations working in Qatar to continue arranging such useful workshops in future as well. — Usha Wagle Gautam
