HMC wins Healthcare Innovation Award

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) won the prestigious Healthcare Innovation Award during the opening session of the 14th Annual Congress of the Arab Hospitals Federation (AHF), which took place in Cairo recently.

The award was received on behalf of HMC by Mohamed Mubarak al-Noimi, chief of communication and chief of staff for the managing director’s office at HMC, and Ali Abdullah al-Khater, executive director of HMC’s corporate communications department.

The award was handed over by Dr Adel Awad, Egypt’s minister of health; Dr Faiqa Saeed al-Saleh, Arab League assistant secretary-general for Social Affairs; and Dr Faouzi Adaimi, president of the AHF.

The Healthcare Innovation Award is reward for the work and efforts of HMC, the principal public healthcare provider in Qatar, to meet the healthcare needs of the country’s growing population. It also recognises HMC’s endeavours to become the first provider for healthcare services in the Middle East to adopt the Academic Health System, ensuring that all services are provided in accordance with the highest international quality standards. The award is also recognition of the efforts of all HMC staff who have contributed to its local and regional achievements.

With the congress being held concurrently with the Council of Arab Health Ministers, HMC’s representing delegation to the 14th Annual Congress of the Arab Hospitals Federation also received a number of Arab health ministers at the corporation’s stand. They included Dr Awad; Abdulkareem bin Sadiq al-Shahabi, Minister of Health in Bahrain; and Dr Majeed al-Amin, Iraq’s Minister of Health.

Al-Noimi and al-Khater from HMC presented plaques of appreciation to the Egyptian and Bahraini ministers of health, as well as to Dr Tawfik Ahmad Khoja, chairman of the executive board of the event’s organising committee, in recognition of his contribution to the success of the event.

The HMC delegation made a brief presentation to the Arab ministers on HMC’s healthcare activities and capabilities, as well as its pioneering medical and clinical role in Qatar.

Al-Noimi was also awarded with the AHF’s Medal of Distinction in recognition of his role as a member of the AHF executive board and the considerable support he has provided to the federation over the past years.    Speaking on HMC’s achievement and the Healthcare Innovation Award, al-Noimi said: “This award will motivate HMC and all its employees to keep adopting their successful approach and to seek more developments and achievements.”

“The regional and international recognition of HMC’s achievements reflects the corporation’s excellent performance and outstanding abilities,” said al-Khater.

Professor Michael Richmond, chief of Medical, Academic and Research Affairs at HMC, gave a scientific presentation titled ‘Partnering with your Staff on Problem Solving’.
