Qatar’s Assistant Foreign Minister HE Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi and Pakistan embassy’s Charge d’Affaires Malik Mohamed Farooq cut a cake at the Pakistan Day reception yesterday evening as prominent Qatari businessman HE Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, other dignitaries and diplomats look on.
The Pakistan embassy commemorated Pakistan Day at a ceremony here yesterday.
The Charge d’Affaires Malik Mohamed Farooq unfurled the Pakistan flag on the tune of national anthem in the presence of Pakistani community and the officials of the Pakistani mission. Farooq read out messages of the president and prime minister of Pakistan.
In their messages, both President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif congratulated Pakistanis living abroad on the landmark day in the history of Pakistan. Both leaders stated that it was reassuring that Pakistan, despite immense challenges, was making a steady progress.
They urged the people to unite on a single platform and work for the development of their homeland. Both the leader of the government and the head of the state called upon people to adopt and uphold the golden principles of “unity, faith, discipline” provided by Father of the Nation Mohamed Ali Jinnah.
“It requires for the people to work in the spirit of tolerance and mutual accommodation. Unity is the greatest need of the time for Pakistan,” the two leaders stated in their messages to the expatriate community of Pakistan living in Qatar.
“I congratulate and thank the Pakistani community for the love they have shown for their country and turned up in numbers on a working day for the ceremony,” said the charge d’affaires.
The participants of the ceremony held special prayers for the development and prosperity of Pakistan.
Later, the members of the community, including women and children; besides the embassy staff were invited to a traditional halwa puri breakfast hosted by the embassy.
In the evening, the embassy hosted a reception and a cake-cutting ceremony for government authorities from Qatar and select members of Pakistani community at The Diplomatic Club.
