SDC participates in Forsaty exhibition

Social Development Centre (SDC) has participated in the Forsaty exhibition for productive families through the Badr wa int Gadr programme.

The exhibition was organised by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs at the Al Jiwan Hall of Dana Club recently.

SDC has said that through this participation, it hopes to invite Qatari families to explore the beneficial opportunities offered by its programmes - such as Badr - to help improve their
entrepreneurial projects.

Munther al-Dawood, director of Project Management and Investment at SDC, said: “We would like to take this opportunity to attract more Qatari families and encourage them to use our services. We are also pleased to have the families, who participated with us before, showcase their products at the exhibition.”

Al-Dawood also focused on the importance of entrepreneurship programmes in diversifying the economy, which is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, adding: “The department of small enterprises and development is keen on organising training courses that meet the productive families’ aspirations as well as entrepreneurship project owners in Qatar.”

The Forsaty exhibition highlights the ministry’s role in supporting local production and Qatari talents and raising awareness about the importance of saving and refraining from overspending. The exhibition is considered as a hub for Qatari families that produce handicrafts, perfume, food and clothing.

The programme provides full support for entrepreneurial projects by individuals and families alike across Qatar by assisting them to develop successful enterprises and offering a range of services that support productive families to ensure the continuity of their success. Some of these services include training, marketing, administrative support, motivation, encouragement and funding

The Badr programme was initially launched in 2002 under the name Modern Family Programme and re-branded in 2012 to Badr wa int Gadr, meaning “take the initiative” and “you can”, which are key messages to all the programme members.
