Ooredoo showcases Emir Cup trophy

By Sports Reporter/Doha

To help build the excitement for the finals of the HH the Emir Cup, Ooredoo hosted the trophy of the much-anticipated tournament at its main offices in Doha this week, as the nationwide Cup tour of the main sponsors and partners of the tournament continues.
As the main telecommunications partner for the Emir Cup, Ooredoo is running the special #Koora campaign, to encourage as many people as possible to attend the matches, cheer on their favourite team, and enjoy the incredible summer of sport.
The Emir Cup will run until May 17, and is Qatar’s most popular annual football tournament, with the winners guaranteed a place in the 2015 AFC Champions League, and awarded with the 2014 Emir Cup trophy.
The trophy was displayed at the Ooredoo Tower in West Bay earlier this week, with a delegation of Ooredoo’s senior officials and employees posing with the trophy. The cup was then sent to Ooredoo’s HQ2 airport shop which has received a special football makeover, as part of the company’s #Koora celebrations.
The tour was attended by the famous Al Ahli football player, Omar Abdulaziz al-Ansari. The Al Ahli team is set to play in the Emir Cup semi-final against Al Sailiya on Saturday, May 10, at 5:15pm.
Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari, director Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo, said: “The Emir Cup is one of Qatar’s most important sporting events, and we’re proud to not only continue our tradition of sponsorship for it, but also champion the people to get involved with the exciting year of sport we have ahead. This is just the beginning and we encourage all of Qatar’s football fans to come cheer on the teams.”
The #Koora campaign is part of Ooredoo’s ‘Year Of Sport’ initiative which was launched to bring people together, improve health in Qatar, and encourage a fitter lifestyle for all.
As part of the campaign, Ooredoo will be rolling-out a number of competitions and services such as the Emir Cup Goal booth and Instagram #EmirCup2014 challenge.
To win an exclusive easy-to-remember (ETR) number, customers can visit the Ooredoo sound-proof booths in Landmark Mall and Souq Waqif between 1 - 15 May, and scream ‘Goal’. The longest and loudest scream will win, and will be used as part of Ooredoo’s #Koora campaign.
Customers can also take part in the Instagram #EmirCup2014 challenge, by posting a slogan or lyric about their favourite Qatar club with the #EmirCup2014 to enter. The most liked posts between now and May 15 will be printed on an official customised iPad and 10 Ooredoo T-Shirts for the winner.
This is the latest in a series of Ooredoo promotions and activities built around 2014’s sporting tournaments. Customers can look out for more events and giveaways by following Ooredoo’s social media pages and following the #Koora hashtag on Twitter.
