Maersk Oil launches recruitment campaign

Maersk Oil Qatar has launched the latest phase of its multi-media recruitment campaign, featuring five Qatari employees who have forged successful careers at the country’s largest oil producer.
The recruitment drive forms part of Maersk Oil’s wider Qatarisation strategy through which the company aims to quadruple the number of Qatari employees who are leaders or senior specialists
by 2017.
Drilling engineer Mohamed Abdulmalik, reservoir engineer Sara al-Abdullah, senior helicopter operations co-ordinator Hassan Maki, safety services team lead Hussain Ashkanani, and senior cost controller Ibrahim al-Zereqi will all feature in the ‘Find Your Place’ campaign in local newspapers, online, at universities and through the www.findyourplace.qa website.
Lewis Affleck, managing director, Maersk Oil Qatar, said: “Qatarisation is a personal priority of mine and a core business priority for Maersk Oil Qatar.”
Maersk Oil Qatar’s latest recruitment campaign is a key part of its revitalised Qatarisation strategy that was the culmination of a 12-month study that included a survey of employees and detailed mapping and analysis of best practice in Qatar and abroad.
Sheikh Faisal al-Thani, deputy managing director, Maersk Oil Qatar, said: “Qatarisation has always been a priority for Maersk Oil Qatar and in recent years we have doubled the number of Qatari employees and increased those with a bachelor’s degree. I’m proud of what we have achieved and of the talented people we have working with us. But we will do more to attract and develop Qatari leaders.”
One employee profiled in the recruitment campaign, Mohamed Abdulmalik, joined Maersk Oil Qatar in 2009 and is currently sponsored by the company to complete university studies in the United Kingdom.
