The health centres under the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) will provide the facility for online appointment for patients in the near future, said Alexandra Tarazi, executive director of Health Information Systems of the Clinical Information System. |
During a media tour of the Al Daayen Health Centre, Alexandra said that presently the patients have to come to the health centres for the appointment. “We will allow online appointment at a later stage. When the issue of the appointment system settles down, we will allow online registration and appointment. This will allow the patients to register from home and seek online appointment. Such a system is already done in the USA.”
Alexandra also pointed out that the health centre provides wireless connectivity to everybody. “All the clinicians and patients can access the CIS through an application named Cerner with the wireless connectivity.
The system will be applied step by step. As soon as the entire health centres are operational under the CIS, other facilities also will be added. When the whole system is in place, we will enable the online appointment system. “
Dr Fatima Yacoub Alali, manager Al Daayen Health Centre, said that the entire records of the patients have been incorporated online. “Though all the records are digitised, all the records are still kept intact. The records will be later moved to another place and will be preserved for a long time. The records will be available if they are needed at any time.”
