HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud arrived in Shanghai yesterday leading a delegation to the 4th summit of the heads of state and prime ministers of the member-states to the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) which begins today.
HE al-Mahmoud and the accompanying delegation were welcomed at Shanghai airport by Sultan bin Salmeen al-Mansoori, Qatar’s ambassador to China, and officials of the Chinese Foreign Ministry and Shanghai department.
The CICA is an inter-governmental forum for enhancing co-operation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia.
Minister to lead team to GCC meet
HE the Minister of Development Planning and Statistics Dr Saleh bin Mohamed Salem al-Nabit will lead Qatar’s delegation to the 24th meeting of GCC ministerial committee on planning and development which is due to be held today in Kuwait.
The meeting will discuss topics related to economic integration and planning and development. It will also review the secretariat’s memo on following up the activation of the long-term comprehensive development strategy (2010-2025), as well as its memo on updating guidelines for planning and development concepts in GCC countries in the light of the recommendations of the undersecretaries of ministries and bodies of planning and development.
The meeting will also address the recommendations of population policy, the Millennium Development Goals and the post-2015, in addition to setting priorities for the ministerial committee on planning and development.

Qatar to attend transport forum
The State of Qatar is set to take part in the International Transport Forum, which will take place in Leipzig, Germany, tomorrow with the participation of ministers of transport from around the world, senior officials, representatives of government sectors, business leaders and international organisations and academic and media agencies.
HE the Transport Minister Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti will lead Qatar’s delegation to the three-day forum. Participants will discuss a number of topics related to the transportation industry.
Qatar- Albania relations reviewed
Albania’s Defence Minister Mimi Kodheli has met Qatar’s Ambassador to Albania Yusuf bin Hassan al-Saei.
