Symposium on energy efficiency for building technologies

The German Industry and Commerce Office (AHK) recently held a Symposium on ‘Energy Efficiency for Building Technologies’, under the auspices of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, in Doha.

The event took place in the presence of six German companies that were part of an energy efficiency delegation to Qatar, in search of potential business opportunities with local companies and with the aim of exchanging their expertise with local contractors.

The companies specialising in various areas of energy efficiency, such as lightning, insulation systems and solar cooling, had the opportunity to introduce their products to local private and public companies that attended the event and were interested in their updated energy efficient fields and
technologies.

Additionally, the symposium included several other presentations regarding energy efficiency.

Jan Wiedemann, managing director of Enviacon International, spoke about energy efficiency in Germany after the turnaround in energy policy, followed by a presentation by Prof Dr Dorothea Wagner of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology as well as a demonstration on the possibilities for passive houses in Qatar by Prof Ludwig Rongen of the University of Applied
Sciences in Erfurt, Germany.

Other reputable speakers included Dr Alex Amato, head of Sustainability, and Dr Cynthia Skelhorn, both representing Qatar Green Building Council, as well as Jan Schoenig, programme manager of Major Events at Siemens Qatar.

The symposium ended with the concluding remarks of Wiedemann and the possibility for networking, which both the German companies and local business representatives used for future business relations.
