Cabinet approves draft law on financial system

The Weekly Cabinet meeting, presided over by HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, has approved a draft law on the financial system of the State which aims at optimising the use of the public funds and to keep abreast with the best international practices and standards in public business.
The Cabinet also approved a draft decision forming the tenders and bidding committee at the Foreign Ministry.
As per the draft decision, a committee for tenders and biddings is to be established at the Foreign Ministry to undertake functions of the central and local tenders committee as stipulated in the tenders and biddings related law.
The committee will apply the provisions, measures and rules stipulated by the law.
The Cabinet also approved the application of the provisions of law No 24 of 2002 concerning retirement and pensions of Qatari employees with Qatar Jet Fuel Company (QJet ) and Woqod Vehicles Inspection (Fahes).
It also approved the application of the provisions of the law No 24 of 2002 concerning the retirement and pensions of Qatari employees in the following companies:
1- CH2M HILL INTERNATIONAL PV
2- The Investors’ Group Company
3- Arrayan Hospitality company
4- Aventicum Capital Management Qatar
5- Al Rayan Financial Brokerage and Al Rayan investment Companies affiliated to Masraf Al Rayan
The meeting also approved a proposal to increase the annual financial support to Qatar Cancer Society.
A proposal to host the 9th Arab Conference on World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Doha in October, 2014 was also approved.
A draft memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Qatar Tourism Authority and Qatar Airways .
and a draft MoU between the governments of Qatar and Kenya were also approved.
The Cabinet then reviewed the following two topics and adopted the relevant decisions:
1-The proposal of the Ministry of Transportation extending the exemption of Qatar Ports Management company of franchise fees set as per Article 3 of the Decree Law No 17 of 2009.
2- The letter of HE the Minister of Justice concerning the legal adaptation of the draft memoranda of understanding between Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) and its counterparts in other countries.
Labour Minister
holds talks
in Geneva
HE the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Dr Abdullah Saleh Mubarak al-Khulaifi held separate meetings with Lebanese Minister of Labour Sejean Qazzi and Sudanese Minister of Human Resources, Development and Labour Ishraqa Sayed Mahmoud in Geneva yesterday.
The meetings took place on the sidelines of the 103rd session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, which runs until June 12.
During the meetings, issues of mutual concern and bilateral relations were discussed.
Qatar’s envoy
meets mayor
of Ankara
Ankara’s Mayor Melih Gokcek met Qatar’s Ambassador to Turkey Salem bin Mubarak al-Shafi in Anakara yesterday.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and means of boosting them and discussed the proposal of forging a twinning agreement between the cities of Doha and Ankara.
Al-Shafi hailed Ankara municipality’s efforts in developing the city.

Tunisian minister
President of Qatar Military Sports Association (QMSA) Major General Dahlan al-Hamad held a meeting with Tunisian Minister of Youth, Sport, Women and Family Affairs Saber Bouatay in Doha yesterday.
Talks focussed on issues of common interest in the field of military sport.
The meeting was attended by Al-Munzir al-Zareef, ambassador of Tunisia to Qatar and a number of senior officers of the armed forces.
