Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) will open the Mesaimeer Health Centre, which will have the capacity to cater to 32,000 patients a month, in November, local daily Al Sharq has reported.
The health centre will include a Medical Commission for workers and is being established as part of a plan to open five workers’ health centres, including the one opened in the Industrial Area, according to the report.
Meanwhile, the source has told the daily that the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) is developing a plan to face local disasters through co-ordination with the medical authorities and other bodies (government, semi-government and private) concerned. The disaster plan will be executed by a committee presided over by the SCH, the report states.
Further, the source has referred to a plan to expand the expatriates’ health centre in Fereej Abdel Aziz in order to provide medical services to the maximum possible number of patients. According to the plan, the existing building will be demolished and a new one will be constructed with suitable specifications. Besides, the name “expatriates’ health centre” will be replaced by “workers’ health centre”, according to the report.
On the issue of overcrowding at workers’ health centres, the source said this is not due to poor services but because of the rush seen at certain times, especially in the morning, the report adds.
