HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday met the President of the National Assembly of France Claude Bartolone and a group of its members at the Assembly’s headquarters in Paris.
Bartolone welcomed the Emir and the accompanying delegation, hailing the distinguished relations between Qatar and France and the co-operation and partnership between them on all fronts.
The two sides stressed the deep bilateral ties and the importance of enhancing co-operation and consultation on current issues.
In addition, they exchanged views on international issues of mutual concern.
Later the Emir attended a luncheon banquet the French National Assembly’s president hosted in his honour and the accompanying delegation.
Maurice Leroy, National Assembly vice-president and head of the Qatar-France Friendship Society, attended the banquet along with a number of Assembly members.
The Emir also met the Mayor of Paris City Anne Hidalgo, at the Council of Paris.
Discussions dealt with bilateral relations and ways of developing them as well as issues of mutual interest.

Meanwhile, yesterday the Emir met several senior French officials at Qatar’s embassy in Paris.
He met Bariza Khiari, French Senate vice-president; Philippe Marini, head of the Senate’s Qatari-French friendship group; Alain Houpert, Senate member for Bourgogne region’s department of Cote-d’Or; and Serge Dassault, Senate member for Essonne.
The meeting reviewed friendship and co-operation ties between Qatar and France and means of enhancing and developing them to serve both sides.
A number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Emir attended the meeting.
The Emir also held separate meetings with Total Chief Executive Officer Christophe de Margerie and Gaz de France (GDF SUEZ) Chairman and CEO Gerard Mestrallet at Qatar’s embassy.
The meetings reviewed areas of co-operation and aspects of enhancing and developing them.
Members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir attended the meetings.
The Emir arrived in Paris on Monday afternoon on a two-day official visit to France.
