The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has called on all citizens, residents and institutions in Qatar to comply fully with laws, regulations and norms so that mosques and their surroundings will be a “civilisational model”.
In a statement issued on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the ministry called for refraining from collection of donations at mosques without obtaining its permission. “Religious lessons and lectures should not be given by persons unauthorised by the ministry,” it said.
It also noted that copies of the Holy Qur’an, books and fliers should not be distributed by persons unauthorised by the department of mosques at the ministry.
The statement urged those who wish to host Iftar meals at mosques to contact the department of mosques to choose the right location and called on those who want to perform Itikaf during the holy month to co-ordinate with the department of mosques.
The ministry appealed people not to accompany children under the age of discrimination during prayers in order to help maintain worshippers’ reverence. Worshipers were also urged not to encourage beggars.
