In keeping with the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) is hosting various events and activities, including social media competitions and a Garangao kids’ celebration. |
QF Radio, the voice of Qatar Foundation, is also hosting special Ramadan programmes throughout the holy month on its English and Arabic channels.
As part of its community development pillar, QF is driving its Ramadan initiatives for the enjoyment of the community at large. The activities begin with the ‘Guess Who, Guess What’ daily Instagram competition. For the first three weeks of Ramadan @Qatarfoundation is posting daily questions about famous Islamic scholars and inventors, at noon. The answers and information, about QF’s role in advancing innovation along with the names of the winners, will be accessible at www.qf.org.qa from 10am the following day.
Additionally, as part of education on science and community initiatives, Qatar Foundation will celebrate the work of its various centres during Ramadan, by sharing content produced by respective institutions under a weekly theme – the first of which will be ‘charity’.
The themes will illustrate how Qatar continues to strive towards fostering a culture of excellence. QF Facebook fans and Twitter followers are also encouraged to illustrate how they too contribute to the celebration of each theme, by posting pictures using the hashtag #QFRamadan.
QF subsidiary Msheireb Properties, in association with Eid Charity, is hosting a daily Iftar tent to celebrate and capture the ethos of the holy month at the ‘Msheireb Downtown Doha’ project. The tent will welcome fasting individuals from all sectors of society to provide daily complimentary meals to more than 9,000 people including onsite construction workers and local residents.
QF will also host the traditional children’s celebration ‘Garangao’ at the Al Shaqab indoor arena during the holy month, while Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) will send out daily tips about seeking education in Ramadan. Join the conversation on Twitter @HBKU_SC, or at www.facebook.com/HBKU_SC, or by searching #HBKURamadan and #RamadanConversations.
