The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has inaugurated two new mosques at Umm Sanim and Al Sailiya. |
The ministry has announced completion of maintenance work at four other mosques - Al Khor, Umm Sanim, Al Aab and Rawdat Aqdim.
This was in line with the ministry’s plan to increase the number of mosques across the country to cater to the growing population.
The plots of land for the mosques were allocated by the government, with a capacity for 4,216 worshippers.
The mosque at Al Sailiya is large enough for 755 worshippers, with two attached houses for the Imam and prayer caller, besides other facilities. The mosque at Umm Sanim can accommodate up to 346 worshippers and features necessary attachments and facilities.
The ministry has also provided the necessary staff and clerics to run the mosques.
