QRC heart surgery
project saves
160 children
Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) has conducted around 160 heart surgeries on children in Gaza, Mauritania, Morocco, Sudan and Syria, local daily Arrayah has reported.
The project involves a budget of QR750,000, which QRC hopes will be provided by donors in Qatar.
The project targets children in needy Arab countries and seeks to cover 30 cases annually, the report states.
In the Gaza Strip, where at least 300 children suffer from problems of the heart every year, the shortage of funds, doctors and hospitals makes it difficult for them to undergo heart surgeries, it adds.
In a statement, QRC said the project is a humanitarian activity that has a great impact on individuals, families and communities and aims to treat child patients, according to the report.
