ExxonMobil demonstrated its support for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) yesterday by participating in the Middle East Health, Safety, Environment, & Sustainable Development Conference & Exhibition (MEHSES).
MEHSES is designed to provide more than 1,000 professionals from the energy industry the opportunity to engage in constructive dialogue on various health, safety and environment (HSE) issues, including social responsibility, sustainable development, risk management, environmental issues, health hazard management, behaviour-based safety, land transportation safety, workforce welfare, and security issues.
Bart Cahir, ExxonMobil Qatar general manager and president addressed the regional and international delegates who attended the opening session of the conference, highlighting the company’s support for the event as its sole titanium sponsor.
“I would like to congratulate SPE and Qatar Petroleum for organising this conference, and for gathering such a distinguished group of participants,” said Cahir.
“At ExxonMobil, we believe safety, health and environmental protection are more than just valuable attributes of business, but represent an organisational commitment that is aligned with the National Vision of the government under the leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.”
“As you all very well know, there is a tremendous dependence on us to create a better, wealthier, healthier future for all people,” continued Cahir.
“Producing gas and oil in a safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible way takes a tremendous amount of commitment, initiative and effort from all parties; and it is gatherings such as this one that allow us to share our own industry knowledge by way of our speakers, and involvement in the exhibition. It is also an opportunity for us to work with our colleagues and partners from the energy sector to continually motivate further advancements and breakthroughs that help us do our jobs in a way that maximises the value and efficient use of resources, while increasing safety, improving human health and protecting the environment.”
ExxonMobil said its commitment to HSE excellence ranks among the best in the industry. These values align ExxonMobil with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 to protect and preserve people and environment, it said.
