The Eid al-Adha is expected to be a grand celebration in Qatar with numerous activities and programmes spread across various locations from October 4 to 10, the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has announced.
Six malls – City Center Doha, Landmark, Lagoona, The Mall, Hyatt Plaza, and Al Khor mall – will host dozens of shows from 4pm to 9pm during these days.
Some of the attractions include speed painter Nour Eddine Benouakas, Shaun the Sheep, Mr Potato Head, Dora’s Ballet adventures, Dan druf circus, sweet for kids, Fritters, Steve Kaos, Football freestyler, Tannoura, Oriental Parade, Face painting, Adventure time show and Bubblez and Balloonz. Each runs 10 to 20 minutes for at least five hours.
Katara - the Cultural Village will also host a number of programmes such as the Angry Bird exhibition (QR50 for five years old above), Dream on Ice (entry fee is from QR100 to QR500), Abu Salama (Qatari Theatre), Bing Bang and the much-awaited fireworks (11pm).
Traditional Qatari performances organised by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage will be staged at the Al Bidda Park, Rumeilah along the Corniche starting from 5pm until midnight.
The Sout Al Rayyan Music Festival, which features folklore dance (4pm to 9pm) and music concert (9pm to midnight), will be held at the open area in Souq Waqif.
The Tours of Al Dosari Zoo and Game Reserve will start on October 5 and will be open from 7am to 7pm while the Tours of Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al-Thani Museum will run from October 4 to 11 at the Al Shahaniya area from 8:30am to 6pm.
Majority of the activities, attractions and shows are free of charge except for a few such as the shooting practice (QR100 per 25 shots for 18 years old and above) at the Lusail Shooting Club along Al Khor road, Aqua Park festival along Salwa Road, and the Aerial Paragliding Tours (QR250 per person for 18 years old above) at Sealine beach.
A number of Eid shows from 6pm to 10pm will also be held at The Pearl Qatar from October 4 to 6, also for free.
“This Eid, Qatar will celebrate with family visits, gathering with friends, scrumptious meals, live entertainment for kids, and tons of activities across the country,” the QTA stressed, adding that these exciting and fun-filled events are aimed at making Qatar a leading family destination.
The Ministry of Interior also announced that it will organise Eid celebrations in Al Khor and West End Park for both bachelors and families. Page 34
