Qatari fashion designers to display talent at Pearl event

Women’s organisation The Vision will stage a fashion show at The Pearl-Qatar tomorrow, showcasing the talent of more than 18 young Qatari fashion designers.

The event promises to showcase the latest trends in abaya couture, women’s clothing and accessories for the fashionable community of Qatar and the Gulf region, while providing the talented designers with a sizeable audience comprising affluent Qatari socialites, prominent business and public figures in addition to celebrities and media representatives, according to a statement.

This initiative is how The Vision adds value to budding entrepreneurs as part of the organisation’s mandate to support creative initiatives and develop capacities of Qatari women in various fields, including fashion and arts, the statement adds.

Shaikha al-Sulaiti, managing director of The Vision, said that the organisation hopes to enable more young Qataris to kickstart and develop their ideas into prosperous businesses that will positively impact the Qatari economy.

She added that women’s contribution to the national income is proving vital to the achievement of Qatar’s developmental goals and the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030 - by which The Vision is both driven and inspired.

Roger Dagher, director of Corporate Communications at United Development Company (UDC), the island’s master developer, said: “We are delighted that The Pearl-Qatar continues to be chosen as a preferred destination for hosting glamorous events such as the one brought to us by The Vision. This certainly reflects our position as an ambitious project that has become a beautiful façade to Qatar’s investment in progressive and ambitious developments.”

The Vision is a Qatari private organisation focused on community service and Qatari talent development. It is managed by a panel of professional and well-connected Qatari women, including Shaikha al-Sulaiti, Sheikha Sara al-Thani, Raya al-Mugaisib, Shaikha al-Mannai, Al Dana al-Sulaiti, Hind al-Muhannadi and Maryam al-Nasser.
