Qatar 2015 yesterday announced Maersk Oil Qatar as a Prestige Partner of the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship as it prepares to welcome teams, athletes and spectators to the sporting mega-event in January 2015. |
The contract of mutual agreement was signed on Wednesday by Qatar 2015 Organising Committee director general Dr Thani Abdulrahman al-Kuwari and Maersk Oil Qatar managing director Lewis Affleck.
Under the leadership of Qatar 2015 Organising Committee president HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, the Committee is striving toward a remarkable championship yet and working with some of the largest companies in Qatar to deliver its vision of the Championship. This is the first time the world event is being held in Qatar.
The Organising Committee aims to raise the global profile of the men’s World Handball Championship by working with an international organisation like Maersk Oil, which has a track record of supporting sport.

“Our partnership with Maersk Oil is another major milestone of our sponsorship strategy, because of their involvement with major supporting events in Qatar and across their international operations. Through a series of community initiatives, we aim to share Maersk Oil’s enthusiasm for sport with Qatar. We encourage more people take up the sport of handball. We are thankful for the sponsorship extended by Maersk Oil Qatar and look forward to working together to create an extraordinary event,” Dr al-Kuwari said.

As a Prestige Partner, Maersk Oil Qatar will receive the highest level of rights and benefits with the Championship, including advertising rights and prominent logo placement in all marketing collateral.
