QNA/Doha

Qatar is booming and the world will see that it is capable of organising an amazing Football World Cup in 2022, said the Ambassador of Iran to Qatar Dr Mohamed Jawad Asayish.

While describing the two countries’ ties as longstanding and historic, the Iranian ambassador highlighted the constructive and fruitful co-operation between the two sides in enhancing security and stability in the region and their co-operation in several areas.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr Asayish extended his congratulations on the occasion of the Qatar National Day to the leadership and the people of Qatar.

“At the outset, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to the Emir, the government and the people of the State of Qatar on the occasion of National Day celebrations which will be held on 18th December.”

He prayed to the Almighty God to grant HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, and the Qatari people health and strength, wishing Qatar further progress and prosperity and fulfillment of its goals, ambitions and aspirations.

Over the past two decades Qatar has witnessed a remarkable development and progress and a great boom in all walks of life, he said.

“We have seen with our own eyes the extent of progress made in all areas since HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani assumed power in this noble and hospitable country.”

He added that the State of Qatar has consolidated its political role and enhanced its position at the regional and international levels as well as in the Arab and Muslim World.

Qatar is a small country, but it is important in terms of its role, policy, economy and energy, he said, adding that the launch by HH the Father Emir of Qatar National Vision 2030 aimed at setting a clear path for the country to achieve its overall strategy and translate the goals of this integrated vision into reality through the development of a strategy in  political, economic, social, cultural, scientific, environment fields in order to attain further progress and prosperity. He said that Qatar National Vision 2030 will translate this ambitious vision and achieve Qatari citizens’ dreams, ambitions and future aspirations.

On the FIFA World Cup in 2022, the Iranian ambassador praised Qatar’s preparations and mobilisation of all aspects and possibilities to host the event coupled with the importance given by the officials at the highest levels, especially HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani.

“We are very confident that the State of Qatar is capable of organising this great event in a successful manner, and we are confident that the beautiful memories and the great and continuous effort will remain in the minds of the peoples of the region and the world for a long time. The world will see that the World Cup is well organised and that all the desperate attempts to circumvent the world Cup will fail.”

Talking about bilateral ties, Dr Asayish termed the relations between Iran and Qatar as good and not encumbered by any difficulties or obstacles, saying the two countries are working to further deepen all aspects of co-operation and development.

“Our countries have special longstanding historical ties characterised by shared bonds of faith, good-neighborly relations and continuous communication and exchange of visits at the highest level. We have high-level joint committees for consultation, co-operation and co-ordination in political, economic and cultural spheres and we have concluded contracts, memoranda of understanding and minutes to consolidate and develop relations in various fields. These effective and active committees meet regularly. They are formed by both sides and are making great strides forward.”

Describing the bilateral relations as excellent, the Iranian Ambassador noted the constructive and influential co-operation in enhancing security and stability in the region.

He said that there were goals, interests and a shared vision in most areas, while underlining that “Iran’s top leadership, especially President Dr Hassan Rouhani gives great attention to the brotherly and friendly relations with the State of Qatar.

There is constant contact between him and his brother HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. Recently, there were many phone calls to consult on important regional and international issues”.
