QBWA to hold annual networking dinner

The Qatari Businesswomen Association (QBWA) is set to hold its annual networking dinner tomorrow at Al Gassar Resort.

Held under the auspices of Sheikha al-Anood bint Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani, the event is organised by Al Barza Event Planning Company, a newly-established business owned by a handful of Qatari women.

QBWA said it is keen to help Qatari women find opportunities, which they can use to market their companies and services as well as help them expand their networks and grow their businesses.

QBWA vice-chairwoman Aisha Alfardan said, “This dinner is a good opportunity to exchange ideas and proposals on various issues and projects of interest to businesswomen in Qatar since we will host the delegates of the fifth Qatar International Businesswomen Forum.”

The event, sponsored by Qatar Stock Exchange, Alfardan Group Holding and Turkish Airlines, provides a networking platform for women in Qatar so that they can grow their networks and learn more about QBWA membership and activities.

At the same time, it seeks to strengthen links and broaden communication between the businesswomen in Qatar, demonstrate the results of activities and events that QBWA joined or launched, and contribute to Qatar’s economic development.

Alfardan said, “The support we received from sponsors demonstrates their great interest in building women’s capacity and empowering them to fully participate in the social and economic spheres of society in Qatar.

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my utmost thanks and gratitude to our main sponsors for their support. It demonstrates their great interest in development and social responsibility as well as their confidence in QBWA and their continued support for various initiatives and activities.”

QBWA was established in 2000 to enhance women’s contribution to economic activity, which constitutes real gain to Qatari women and the society. It is chaired by Sheikha al-Anood and managed by a number of prominent businesswomen who have a history of success in many businesses in different sectors.

“The association has played a distinguished role in enhancing women’s contribution to push the economic wheel towards the strategic growth that we are witnessing today and in line with the wise vision that the government has set,” Alfardan stressed.

QBWA is also a founding member of the Mena Businesswomen Network, which includes 10 member countries and is becoming a role model through its active participation and best practices.
