Officials of the Qatari Businessmen Association, led by chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani, held a private meeting with Slovenian President Borut Pahor yesterday at the Ritz-Carlton here.
The meeting, held along the sidelines of “Opportunities in Slovenia and Qatar” organised by Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, discussed ways to increase trade co-operation and improve bilateral relations between the two countries.
Pahor stressed that Slovenia would be a good investment destination for the Qatari market, which could take advantage of the country’s strategic position in Europe and strong relations with its neighbouring countries in the Eurozone.
“Slovenia is also one of the rare European countries that enjoyed a solid economic growth after the economic crises due to its export-driven economy with 75% of our exports benefit many Eurozone countries,” Pahor said.
Shiekh Faisal, meanwhile, expressed the interest of Qatari businessmen to explore the available investment opportunities in Slovenia and the possibility of establishing different projects in various sectors, especially in the tourism sector.
He also invited Slovenian businessmen to explore the business and investment opportunities available in different sectors of Qatar’s economy.
The sheikh also noted that there are several similarities between Qatar and Slovenia, which would constitute as a “solid basis for co-operation” that would allow companies in both countries to grow and develop.
Pahor also invited Sheikh Faisal to bring a Qatari business delegation to Slovenia to have “a closer look” at investment opportunities available in the country.
