The Career Services Centre (CSC) of Qatar University (QU) has held its annual “employer recognition ceremony” yesterday to honour companies and institutions in different sectors that collaborated with QU colleges to train or sponsor students in 2014.
In recognition of their contribution, 120 employers were presented with trophies by QU president Prof Sheikha Abdulla al-Misnad in the presence of QU leaders, deans, faculty, and staff.
“This timely event shows the core role of the ongoing collaborations between QU and its partners, which contribute to achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and building a knowledge-based economy,” al-Misnad said, adding: “Since its inception, QU is committed to providing its students with accredited high-quality programmes and with skills and abilities that enable them to compete at the highest level in the labour market.”
According to al-Misnad, QU is committed to strengthening relations with its partners and is always keen to engage employers on their needs and
expectations.
QU, she added, also develops and enriches its curricula, which is reflected by the establishment of the new College of Medicine (CMED), designed to address the increasing need for Qatar-trained physicians and to support the country’s growing healthcare sector and national strategies in healthcare and education.
Al-Misnad also introduced the new CMED dean, Dr Egon Toft, who delivered a presentation about the college, programme design, learning
outcomes, and prospects.
Haya al-Attiyah, assistant vice president for student success and development, said: “We are pleased to honour these employers, who have demonstrated their commitment to our mission and vision and who are strong partners with us in preparing our students to become the leaders of the vast number of projects that are taking place in Qatar.
“Their support is invaluable to us and we look forward to continuing these partnerships into the future, which will continue to be of great benefit to our students.”
