Qatar Development Bank (QDB) has supported eight Qatari companies through its export arm, Tasdeer, during the 2015 Gulf Food Exhibition (Gulfood) held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from February 8 to 12.
“Qatar Development Bank is an ardent supporter of Qatari exporters, who want to reach new global markets. We regularly support national companies at premier trade events in strategic markets. This is our third consecutive year at Gulfood after the great success of last year’s participation, which resulted in QR10mn worth of booked orders. We are confident this year’s edition will also lead to new business for Qatari exporters,” said QDB CEO Abdulaziz bin Nasser al-Khalifa.
Joining this year’s food exhibition were Qatar Food Factories, Qatar Tunisian Food Company, National Food Company (ZAD Holding), Doha Dates, Dandy Company, Qatar Flour Mills, Agrico Organic Farms, and Colosseum Gelato.
From organic vegetables to dates, frozen meat, and olive oil, the companies showcased “best-in-class” Qatari products. The companies also expressed their appreciation and gratitude for QDB’s support, which opened opportunities to grow regional and global exports and meet key companies in the food sector.
Al-Khalifa added, “Qatar Development Bank, through Tasdeer, remains firmly committed to expanding Qatar’s private sector and supporting the companies driving that growth. Today, we join our clients on their journey towards success through international events, exhibitions, strategic market research and promotion for Qatari exporters.”
Tasdeer executive director Hassan Khalifa al-Mansouri said: “We are pleased with the strong participation from Qatari companies at Gulfood 2015 for the third consecutive year. Our participation promotes trade co-operation between the Qatari market, Gulf markets, and global markets by helping companies identify opportunities and make deals in new markets.”
He added, “Qatar Development Bank, through Tasdeer, has contributed to strengthening Qatari industries and opening new markets for them. Our participation at Gulfood complements these efforts. Attending such important events is part of our strategic approach to growing ‘Made in Qatar’ exports and strengthening their presence in global markets.”
The Qatari pavilion at Gulfood was marked by its distinctive design, modern interior, large area, as well as its strategic location. It was packed with visitors eager to learn more about the food sector in Qatar.
